My friend and I started the day with pottery lessons which was fun and engaging. Hang was great at what she does best. The owner was very accommodating and discussed so many information as well as history of the village and design. We ended up buying some items at the Ceramic Market.

The instructor was patient with us and allowed us to create many different unique pieces. She also advised us on which piece we should fire to bring it back home to us. They also delivered them to our hotel and advised us on the time and day to attend the workshop so that we will get our pottery in time! Overall, had an enjoyable time and created many pieces.

I did the pottery class which Is around the corner from the storefront. It was a lot of fun. The instructor was very patient. One piece to take home was included in fee and additional pieces had an extra nominal cost. Recommend doing class at least a week before leaving if you want to take your pieces home since it will take time to dry and fire the pottery.

Attended the pottery class a couple days ago and just picked up our final products! The class was great although it’s not as easy as it looks the instructor took time with everyone to ensure they were able to make something they were happy with! The final product turned out great as well - after they had been fired and glazed. We were very happy with the service and staff support and would recommend to anyone considering this as an activity to do whilst in Hanoi!

Man hat sich er willkommen Gefühl. Die Atmosphäre war super. Als eines meiner Stücke einen Riss bekommen hat, bevor es an das brennen gehen konnte. Haben sie mir sofort einen Ersatz vorgeschlagen welche ich mir aus der Kollektion aussuchen durfte, oder die Erstattung meines Geldes !. Ich würde jedem empfehlen dieses Ereignis aus Hanoi mitzunehmen. Die Preise sind fair und das Erlebnis lohnenswert!

I had the best experience at authentic bat trang pottery workshop. The teacher was so calm and friendly. We could make 10 items in 2h. After the workshop you can pick 1 item to bring home and additional items for 5 dollar/piece. We brought home 5 items. Great way to bring back something thoughtful souvenirs from our vietnam trip

My family and I tried the pottery class. Most of us were complete beginners, but with the help of the teacher, we were still able to make a few nice pieces. The teachers are super patient and highly skilled. Booked on Viator, found on trip advisor, 152 usd for 4 people. 3 hour experience. 1 complementary piece. If you want them to fire more pieces you make, you need to pay an extra $5. Well worth the price.

We took a pottery making class here and it was fabulous. Our teacher spoke English well and was patient with us newbies on the pottery wheel. Well worth the price and we got new souvenirs (1 per person, then you pay extra per piece they put in the kiln) that we made ourselves to take home! They packed our final products super well so we could stick them straight into the suitcase. Recommend!

Most amazing experience I’ve had! Instructor was Hang and she was soooo patient and friendly which made everything go so well! I struggled a lot at the beginning but she was so patient with me and never made me feel stupid. You get so much time to make the pieces we ended up firing 7 pieces! At first I thought the price was a bit much for the workshop but after doing it, it is so worth it. You basically get 3 hours of almost private studio time and private teacher to guide you through. Comes with 1 free piece to fire then 5usd for any more. Highly recommend for those who like crafts.

Very nice pottery making experience! It was our first go at it and we are happy we managed to make something that we will be able to use and cherish at home. Bear in mind it takes about 3 days to cook the pottery and varnish it so you might want to do this at the beginning of your trip. Otherwise the shop can have it sent to Europe for about 5USD/piece

Top ! Nous avons fait un cours de poterie de 3h pendant notre voyage. Nous avons vraiment apprécié. Les instructions étaient très claires et la professeur parlait très bien anglais. Les vendeurs sont très sympa. Pendant ce cours vous pourrez confectionner autant de pièces que vous le souhaitez. Vous pourrez en ramener une gratuitement dans vos valises (super bien emballée). Vous pourrez également en ramener d’autres pour 5$ par pièce supplémentaire. Nous ne pouvons que recommander ce cours qui nous a vraiment plu ! Petit conseil : les poteries réduisent un peu de taille lors de la cuisson donc n’hésitez pas à les réaliser un peu plus grandes :)

This class was so interesting! The person leading the class was very knowledgeable and helpful. She guided us to making some great pots and different items. Pottery Class, Hanoi Would recommend this tour is booked as soon as you can in Hanoi as you are able to keep the items you make (this takes 3-4 days for firing). Unfortunately, as we came on our last day in Hanoi, we couldn’t do this, but instead we were able to get an item from the shop of an equivalent value as a souvenir from the experience. Would really recommend this experience as it was so fun! Great value for money!

A different activity if you have time in Hanoi Really enjoyed the class. She was lovely and clearly so highly skilled. I ended up being the only person attending the session I booked and got one-on-one tuition, which I really appreciated (I would not have been surprised if they had wanted to cancel). As others have said, make sure you book early on during your stay in Hanoi so they have time to glaze and fire it for you to collect.

Fun to try, didn’t need 3hrs It was fun. More difficult than expected. We were given lots of help. There were only 4 items they showed us how to make, which didn’t take very long (with help); vase, cup, bowl, plate. Endless number of tries, they just swap out the clay every time it’s too wet to keep using. 3hrs is a bit long, we had reached our limit after doing it for around 90 mins.

Amazing pottery tour and ceramic class My husband and I did the full day factory and village tour followed by the pottery class. It was one of our highlights in Vietnam. Sony was a great host and tour guide - very patient, knowledgable and excellent English speaking. The local lunch was delicious. The potttery class is sure to release your inner creativity and we brought home several pieces of our own making which we treasure and are proud of. You will need to allow three days post workshop for your masterpieces to be glazed and be confident it will be well wrapped safely for you travels. Thank you Sonny for the experience!

Great half day activity We did an afternoon session and it was lots of fun. We had a small group and the teacher was really knowledgeable and helpful when we needed assistance (which was a fair bit!). Just make sure you allow enough time for the glazing which is a few days before you can collect them.

Get to make and take home real ceramics We loved seeing how production happened behind the scenes. The workers were so friendly. They let us take pictures with them and watch them work. They were very welcoming. It was smaller pieces of pottery and not some of the larger vases made in Bat Trang. We enjoyed walking around the village as well. We also loved the opportunity to throw our own pots on pottery wheels at the end. This tour actually fires and glazes the dishes we made. You need to pick them up a few days later. It is so fun to have actual ceramics we made to take home. The tour guide was friendly and very good teacher as we tried our hands at making a bowl, vase or cup.

3 hours 3 days for firing of clay (at the workshop) Have a good 3 hours learning pottery with my wife. However, it is important to note that you will need at least 3 more days for your pottery to be fired so that you can collect them from from the shop. Otherwise, you are only left w picking a ready made item worth 150k from the shop. It will not be worth to pay for the shipping cost for your own pottery. The experience could have being better if this condition was made explicit in the description of the workshop. Also, the colouring of the pottery is not inclusive in the workshop.

Super fun experience in Hanoi! This was such a nice experience in Hanoi we had great fun with our group from all nationalities and we got to make lots of different pots. Seany our teacher was excellent and so funny and patient he told us about Bat Trang pottery village and he has been a Potter for 15 years he was so talented and made it look so easy. He helped us create some decent looking pieces and you have the option to choose a colour to glaze your pieces and come back in two days to collect after firing alternatively they can post your pots to you or choose a finished piece from their shop which also sells very nice reasonably priced pottery. Lovely experience well worth booking and very good value considering you get a nice piece of pottery at the end. Thank you to all the team for a great class! Highly recommend!

Great for trying out pottery and very helpful and patient instructors! Never having done pottery before it was fun to try it out. The instructors were very patient and really wanted you to get a good piece, helping out whenever they could. I ended up creating at least 6 or more pieces half of which I scrapped. You shoot pics of those you want finished and choose your glaze which they do after drying. Since it takes 3 days to complete the process, make sure you have enough time for them to finish, and wear clothes that are easily washed or shorts as you end up with a lot of splatter on you. I asked about shipping and it’s expensive. Great activity especially for a rainy day.

Something different but something FUN!! My daughter is really into the arts and aside from doing the usual touristy stuff and we were not disappointed. We had such a blast with teacher Hang. She’s sweet and helpful!! It’s basically the teacher showing you how to mold the ceramics in the beginning and the rest of the time you try to make the most items you can in 3 hours. In the end you pick one item you want to keep for free, they’ll dry and then fire it and then glaze it for you. We’ll definitely do this again, it was relaxing and a break from the hustle and bustle of the city. We ended buying the rest of the creations we made and since it takes a few days to finish up the baking and glazing they shipped our finished product to our destination to HCM city just in time before leaving VN.

A fun, laid back activity in Old Quarters Hanoi. Get creative and take some nice pottery home with you My two girls (11 and 7) and I did the 3 hour pottery session at Authentic Bat Trang located in the Old Quarters. Our instructor was extremely patient with us, helping us often when we would fail at turning a cup, bowl, or plate on the wheel. You get to make as many pieces as you want during the 3 hour session, and choose which pieces you want fired and glazed. You get one piece included with the class. This was a fun, laid back activity for my girls and I. We didn’t feel rushed and took our time to familiarize ourselves with the process and get more comfortable over the 3 hour period. Sony, who manages the store, is very kind and accomodating, and managed to get our pieces ready for us in time for our trip home. They also offer shipping services if there is not enough time.

I would advice to do the class in the beginning of your trip so you can take the plates/mugs etc. with you (2-3 days burning time)…otherwise you can choose something from the shop

Interesting 3 Hour with Clay Pottery Interesting play with Clay and though at times, my non-artistic hand will fly the whole clay off the wheel, the staff is so patient and without any complaints, place a new one for me. She also helped to make mine into a mug shape which I requested (got a bit frustrated by my own handmade after 1hour ). After glazing, the staffs helped to deliver it straight to my hotel! Excellent service!

Highly recommended activity when you visit Vietnam My daughters, 14 and 10, like the workshop. They learned how to make Vietnamese pottery for 3 hours. We were having a good time to talk about Vietnamese pottery history, Bat Trang village... They made the bowls, vases, cups, a tiger and a snake.They cannot wait for their final products. Highly recommend activity to visit when you are in Vietnam.

Fruitful workshop experience It was a great experience , the instructor was patient and super helpful even though we kept messing up the clay. We managed to do many pieces and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. They were very accommodating to us as we were flying back a few days later, they made the effort to rush our pieces to fire it for us to bring it back in time!! He Eve personally brought it down to our hotel :’) Highly recommend it’s super worth!!

So Much Fun We made lots of pieces and had some much needed help along the way. This was so much fun! It was just my boyfriend and I for the class so we had lots of help from the teacher. Even though it’s easy to mess up, it’s easy to laugh about it and just keep going.

We had a really great time and an exceptional experience having the workshop. We decided quite last minute to do this workshop but the communication was great. Considering the fact that Covid still has an impact, I was very happy that they offer this workshop. I never worked with clay before, but with the help and tips of the experts I’m now hooked. It is fun to create something and on the last day of our stay they delivered our stuff personally to our hotel. Some of my pieces did not survive the firing (which is normal and due to the fact that I wanted to have thin thickness of the material). They gave us then some of their own products as replacements which is really nice. When I go to Hanoi next time I definitely will book this again

Amazing pottery class - a must do in Hanoi! From start to finish this pottery class was amazing. The guys really cares about giving us time and providing a professional service. We started out watching how the professional pottery maker works the clay and very quickly we were on the wheels ourselves. The guys gave us so much attention it really was a private lesson in pottery! After creating numerous objects (I made a mug, bowl and plate) they asked which prices we wanted to fire up in the kiln. Offering a complimentary piece,. They even gave us the choice on how we would like the set to look. After around 5 days the items we had made were sent to our hotel. The owner of the class was always in communication and really was fantastic.

Loved the locally made goods This review is about 4 years late but I just pulled out my mug again. One of the things I get when travelling is mugs made locally and this shop not only made it possible but had a variety to choose from. Love it so much!

This class was so interesting! The person leading the class was very knowledgeable and helpful. She guided us to making some great pots and different items. Pottery Class, Hanoi Would recommend this tour is booked as soon as you can in Hanoi as you are able to keep the items you make (this takes 3-4 days for firing). Unfortunately, as we came on our last day in Hanoi, we couldn’t do this, but instead we were able to get an item from the shop of an equivalent value as a souvenir from the experience. Would really recommend this experience as it was so fun! Great value for money!

Brilliant instructor! This was such a fun way to spend the afternoon! The instructor was very patient and friendly, we had a lot of laughs everything I made my clay collapse by accident. She was very attentive and supportive. I had so much fun I ended up making 6 different pieces in total!

Best first experience for Pottery It was my first experience in pottery. And it was wonderful. The instructor, She was very patient and skillful. She made sure that I was comfortable and was helpful every time I failed to complete the pottery successfully. She made sure the end products were baked twice and it turned out good. Will definitely recommend.

Such a fun experience! The staff were fantastic and made sure we all succeeded in making at least 1 good piece. Most of the group ended up with 3-4 pieces. The only consideration if taking this class is that it takes at least 3 days for you pottery piece to be glazed and fired. They will send it to you later, but much easier to collect before you leave Hanoi. Do it!

Super middag! Met z’n tweeën een ontzettend leuke workshop gedaan. Vriendelijke man die goed uitlegt wat je moet doen, neemt de tijd en eindeloze mogelijkheden voor het maken van keramiek. Na een paar dagen onze kopjes opgehaald en echt waanzinnig mooi geworden. Een absolute aanrader!!

The pottery workshop was fantastic! Really chilled and calm, and you could make anything you wanted with a bit of guidance and help. We unfortunately arrived on our last day in Hanoi, but the owner shipped to our hotel in HCM for a reasonable price. The package was amazingly well wrapped too, I’d have no worries about sending more if we visit again! Thank you to all the staff, what a great experience ????
