Heartwarming experience! Really loved it - bat trang pottery class in center of hanoi

We stumbled upon their shop and instantly loved the ceramics. We then inquired about taking a pottery class and the man happily offered us a spot for the following morning. We contacted back and forth via Whatsapp to confirm the reservation.

Note: the pottery instructor travels from Ba Trang (about 45m out from the city) so when booking, avoid cancellation.

These ceramics are infamously made in Ba Trang and this class is a great way to experience Ba Trang in Hanoi.

We then met our instructor the following day and began our pottery class. It took place in an intimate setting and was loads of fun / full of laughter. Our instructor didn’t speak much English but was very keen on learning the language. He successfully taught us simply by hand movements. 

Make on the electoric wheels

We did the class on a Tuesday morning and picked up the ceramics on Friday. The glazing process takes about 3 days so you have to return to pick it up. If you want it painted in various colours, they need another 1-2 days - we opted out of this option as we did not have enough time.

Overall, it was such a pleasant experience meeting the instructor who grew up and lives in Ba Trang and communication with the man who ran the shop was seamless. We highly recommend Authentic Bat trang!
