Our pottery workshop is located at 115 Hang Gai, right in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter. It is an easy activity to add to your Hanoi itinerary without spending hours travelling outside the city.

Step away from the busy streets, sit at your own pottery wheel and experience one of Vietnam’s best-known traditional crafts.

The class is especially enjoyable for couples, friends, families and solo travelers. It is also a perfect indoor activity on a rainy or hot day in Hanoi.

No Pottery Experience Is Needed

Many guests have never touched a pottery wheel before joining our class—and that is completely fine.

Our teachers guide you step by step through the basic process:

Preparing and centering the clay
Controlling the speed of the pottery wheel
Opening and shaping the clay
Creating bowls, cups, small vases or your own design
Improving your shape with guidance from the teacher

You can practise with unlimited clay during the class, so there is no pressure to create the perfect piece on your first attempt.

Sometimes the clay collapses. Sometimes the shape changes unexpectedly. That is part of the experience—and often the moment that creates the biggest smiles.

From a Piece of Clay to a Handmade Hanoi Souvenir

At first, it is simply a piece of clay. Then the wheel starts spinning, your hands begin to move and slowly your idea comes to life.

Every piece is different because every guest creates it by hand. The small imperfections make each ceramic item personal and truly one of a kind.

After the class, you can select one piece to be glazed and fired. Our team will complete the glazing and firing process for you. Additional pieces can also be fired for an extra charge.

The finished ceramics are normally ready within two to three days. We recommend joining the class early during your stay in Hanoi so there is enough time to complete the firing process before you leave.
